Susan Stevens Tanne, M.D.

LipoDissolve/Lipo-Mesotherapy

Dubbed the "Revolutionary Lunch-Time Lipo" by satisfied patients, LipoDissolve is the answer we have all been waiting for. Lipodissolve is NOT a weight loss program but an inch loss program. Our therapy targets localized areas of fat that often prove resistant to diet and exercise. Areas treatable include the abdomen, "love" handles, hips, upper thighs, buttocks, neck, and jowls. Lipodissolve can also be quite effective in reducing the appearance of cellulite. Our Lipodissolve program is designed to improve localized fat and cellulite with no down time and in most instances GREAT RESULTS.

Dr. Tanne has been performing this treatment since 2004, after extensive training both in France with Dr. Jacques Le Coz, and in the United States. LipoDissolve is the most innovative and exciting aesthetic procedure since Botox® that literally dissolves unwanted fat for anyone, men and women. LipoDissolve is the perfect sculpting and shaping treatment with dramatic results in just a few weeks by simple and painless series of micro-injections of a pharmaceutical compound to permanently dissolve the localized fat cells. It is an excellent non-surgical alternative for patients seeking to improve body contour.

How does LipoDissolve work?

This NON-SURGICAL treatment program is performed using a pharmaceutical compound which is administered through a series of micro-injections to permanently dissolve the fat in just a few short treatment sessions. Over time, fat cells expand where we least want them, around our middle, the buttocks, thighs, arms, or chin. To dissolve these pockets of fat, LipoDissolve micro-injections are delivered into the targeted treatment areas. The medications used in LipoDissolve causes lysis ("bursting") of the fat cell wall. This allows the fat that is being stored in the cell to get released, and is taken by the lymphatic system to the liver where it is metabolized and excreted out in the urine. Within a few weeks measurable fat loss is seen, and after 2-5 treatments, the end result is a smooth, natural look in the area that is treated.

What is Phosphatidylcholine?

Phosphatidylcholine (PTC) is a natural soy-derived product that is one of the components used in our Lipodissolve program. This product has been used safely in tens of thousands of patients throughout the U.S., South America, and Europe. Phosphatidylcholine is made soluble by the addition of a naturally occurring bile salt, sodium deoxycholate. In fact, a recent scientific paper from UCLA suggested that sodium deoxycholate may be the major component in the dissolving of fat after treatment. Our sterile phosphatidyl-deoxycholate formula is manufactured by an FDA-approved compounding pharmacy and contains both phosphatidylcholine and sodium deoxycholate.

How is Lipodissolve different from Mesotherapy?

Lipodissolve differs from Mesotherapy in how deep the injections are placed, how much of the solution is injected, and the intervals between treatments. In Mesotherapy, the medications are put into the skin in small amounts and in Lipodissolve, the medications are put deeper into the fat pockets and more medication is used. The main difference between the two procedures is that with Lipodissolve, results are more certain with each treatment and fewer treatments are needed than with Mesotherapy.

Is LipoDissolve safe?

Dr. Tanne maintains the highest standards and treatment protocols to ensure the safety of our patients. Mesotherapy has been used in various medical applications since the 1950s and has been utilized for cosmetic purposes since the mid 90s. Lipodissolve has been available and safely performed in Europe since 2002 and over 18000 procedures have been done worldwide. The main ingredient used to cause the fat cells to burst is actually not a synthetic medication, but rather a natural homeopathic ingredient, which has been used intravenously in Europe over 30 years to treat plaques in blood vessels with extensive research showing safety. In Lipodissolve, this same medication is just being used for a new purpose.

Does it hurt?

A machine is used that blows cold air on the skin to numb the area. Lipodissolve is done with very small needles and most people are comfortable throughout the treatment.

What are the side effects?

The main side effects are bruising, swelling, and soreness, which peak at about 48 hours and then resolve by 10-14 days.

What areas of the body can be treated?

Dr. Tanne offers treatment for the back of the arms, the upper and lower abdomen, the face, chin and jowls, knees, upper and lower back, inner and outer thighs, buttocks, love handles, the male chest and any specific request will be addressed.

What is the downtime?

There's little or no downtime, especially when you compare it to more invasive procedures such as liposuction and abdominoplasty. Post-treatment swelling, tenderness, and bruising is commonly seen, lasting usually a few days post-treatment. Normally, patients can resume their normal schedule immediately after injections. Results are spectacular for both men and women and are visible after series of 2-5 treatments.

How long do the results last?

The results from Lipodissolve will last permanently in the area treated. When fat cells are "dissolved", they will no longer be in that area. However, new fat cells can be generated in the area treated and in other areas if a client adopts unhealthy lifestyle habits, such as poor eating and lack of exercise.
